About the Clown

Hello there, and welcome to The Clown About Town! This blog is home to the things in life that make me happy – fashion, gaming, wrestling, and yes, maybe some clowns along the way too!
I am the clown in question! My name is Mair (pronounced My-ah), but most people online know me as Pumpkin 🎃 I’m 32, go by She/They pronouns, and am currently residing in Wales with my lovely fiancee Cerys.

In recent years, I’ve found myself on an odd little journey of rediscovering myself. I spent a lot of my teen years and early 20s dealing with anxiety and depression (although didn’t get a diagnosis until 25, but that’s a story for another day). I had good moments throughout this time, but as a person I was highly insecure, judgemental, and didn’t truly know who Mair really was, and who they truly wanted to be. After my diagnosis, I made it my goal to set out to find out what truly made me happy.
…and somewhere along the way, it spawned a fascination with clowns. Not sure how it happened, but I’m just going with it! I’m no professional clown by any means, but if I can dress in bright colours and make people laugh, then that’s enough for me. ‘Clown’ most certainly isn’t an insult to me!

My heart lies in two places when it comes to fashion: Japan, and quite literally any charity shop in existence. Being on the Internet a lot helped me to discover the wonderful Japanese fashion cultures, and it’s amazing to see their design origins and how much they’ve changed over the years. I discovered Lolita fashion first, which lead me to Fairy-Kei and Decora-Kei…but as of late, I’ve REALLY gotten into Gyaru! Hime Gyaru/Himekaji, Amekaji, and Agejo are my go-to’s at the moment.
I’m a big advocate for thrifting. Not only do I have a love of vintage clothing, but I’m also a firm believer that buying second-hand shouldn’t be looked down on. You can give some absolute gems a good home if you give them a chance. But remember: Once the Y2K trends die down and the hoarders have filled up their Depop pages, we still need that energy – more sustainability, less fast fashion!

I’ve been gaming from a very young age, sitting with my dad at the age of 3 playing(?) Quake being my first adventure. From the MegaDrive, to Dreamcast, to PS2 and Gamecube, and finally to PC (with about 10 or so Nintendo handhelds thrown in too).
Aside from loving the Sonic, Mario, and Pokémon franchises, ‘Boomer Shooters’ own my soul. It’s hard to pick favourites with such a vast genre, but for the sake of making things easy, let’s just say DOOM. I just love DOOM so much.

It was around 2009 that Cez introduced me to the wonderful world of wrestling, via WWE…and in all honesty, I was very on and off with it. I never really understood the ins-and-outs of feuds and storylines like she did, and despite enjoying what I saw, the real pull to get fully into wrestling never came about…
…Until one fine day in 2017, where I binged the WWE United Kingdom Championship. I was hooked. From there, I went back and rewatched old episodes and PPV’s with a fresh pair of eyes, ready to properly go head-first into the world of wrestling.
Since then, I’ve gone from being an avid fan of 205 Live (Remember that? Remember how good that was?), to crossing the river into the territory of All Elite Wrestling, to discovering the hardcore/deathmatch scenes and falling in love with what indie promotions have to offer in this day and age.
